High-viscosity oil should be used when the ambient temperature is high, and low-viscosity oil should be used when the ambient temperature is low. In the hydraulic system of machine tools, No. 10 mechanical oil can be used in winter, and No. 20 mechanical oil can be used in summer.

This is mainly because the viscosity of mineral oil changes greatly with temperature, and the selection of different brands of mechanical oil according to the change of ambient temperature can make the hydraulic system oil have a suitable viscosity. When the moving speed of the components is high, the oil flow rate is also high, the hydraulic pressure loss of the hydraulic machine is relatively large, but the oil leakage is relatively small, and the suction performance of the pump is also poor, so the oil with lower viscosity should be used. When the moving speed of the parts is low, the oil flow rate is low and the hydraulic pressure loss is small. In order to reduce the oil leakage, the oil with higher viscosity should be selected.
